I’m enjoying these third time charms.. this time at Craigie on Main

The first time I was here, I got a tasting, the second time was for a Mother’s Day prix fixe brunch… this time I was SO much MORE excited to come….PLUS we made our own tasting…. [and besides now we could get Pig Tails on the regular menu and not just the bar menu!!!! *psyched*] Z was back in town [woohoo] got in around 9 and so we had a 1030 seating :] AND WE ATE TIL past 1am! We so badass…. of course we started off with some champagne… cuz come on, that’s how I do ;D

Water with a lemon slice and a lime slice is now known as Z water, got it?

The bread… lots of variety.. and tasty, but unfortunately cold…

Six Oysters on the Half Shell

So fresh and so clean clean….the original oysters were supposed to be Pemaquid but they changed it… so drunkie me doesn’t remember the name of the oysters… They were good, really good.. usually I only like my oysters with tons of horseradish and tabasco…. but these were tasty.. not sweet at all, bathing in their own salty juices… YUM!…. straight down the pipe…

These were really good.. while I was most focused on the Pate de Campagne [the most left one] the most intriguing was the Pate of Quatre Foies [on the right end] .. Z and I were debating on what was in it.. definitely foie gas and definitely chicken liver… there was also squab and…. crap I forgot.. but all yumminess :] I usually can’t take TOO much chicken liver on it’s own.. but this pate, I was SUCH a fan of…

Accompaniments included… pickled chantarelles [wayyy too overpowering IMO], a red wine mustard, gherkins, red onion, a grainy mustard.. and ….. yea the rest escapes my mind… I mean, I personally love a good creamy pate on some nice toasted crunchy delicious bread… so I’m not TOO big on adding more to it.

This was delicious.. Z describes it as a breakfast sandwich in a bite :] It was SOOOO delicious.. and I’m such a sucker for poached eggs [PERFECTLY poached eggs – mind you] and mushrooms <3 Oh I was in heaven….

And then, the reason why we came to Craigie in the first place…

OMFG… HOLY FUCKING A… I can’t.. even NOT say a dirty word to describe this… SO absolutely freaking delicious. [I tried] They’re like… pork belly around a bone… these were so Asian-y tasting too.. but in the most fab NON-fusion kind of way….  Z and I were tearing these apart.. like freaking hyenas from Lion King :] NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!… and of course some delicious onion strings on top – but who can focus on that… PIGGIE TAILS PIGGIE TAILS PIGGIE TAILS… next time we come back, PIGGIE TAILS x4 :]

The first wine our waitress suggested… was HORRIBLE. Disgusting.. in the words of Z “it feels like I’m in a playground” So we decided to stick to what we love.. Spanish wine…

I don’t even know how to begin how amazing this was… the first time I had a pig’s head, in whole, was at Resto and it was amazing, but this time I could go at it without judgement hahahaha…. the skin was perfection…. juicy, crisp… underneath the most delicious fat.. and underneath that the MOST moist meat… we ate it ALL, ALL… Z even got me to split the eyeball with him. YES, Miss Tiffie ate a pig’s eyeball!!! We were halfway thru before we forgot that we had pancakes and sauce to go with it.. so we tried a taco or two.. but just kept on going at it sans all that other extra stuff…

Sidenote: Boudin Noir HOISIN sauce? Probably the only hoisin sauce I’ve never disliked… or been sick of… OMG… BOUDIN NOIR <3 Joy….

Piggie Head Taco

Yea we’re dorks, but Z fed me piggie ear so it’s okay he failed :] We literally ate the whole head clean.. sucked it dry.. I mean COME ON, we ate the EYEBALL and pulled out it’s teeth.. I said I was gona make some badass necklaces for us :]

Bone Marrow is always off the menu here.. so you gotta ask for it.. delicious.. I was sucking and licking them clean :D

What can I say? Perfection… sprinkled with a bit of sea salt on some great crunchy toast? Orgasm much?

Out of all the dishes that was the only one that didn’t get our panties in a twist… It was good, but it wasn’t mind-boggling… either way we ated it :] I guess it’s hard to compete with my super awesome 5 Course Veal Dinner

We also got Duck Fat Fried Brussel Sprouts.. but they were meh… I had a picture but it’s lost somewhere in limbo ;D

And we ended the night with my favorite dessert from them….

Can’t describe it more than the perfectly sweet [but not too sweet] creamy, cheesecakey/yogurty happiness on a plate.. the pinenuts help too :]

Craigie is totally one of my favorite restaurants here in Boston…. you can’t come visit here without coming here as well.. Tony Maws is an absolute genius!!!! So come and eat… or else I’ll make you… bring you, wine and dine you – honestly I don’t mind ;D

Turkey Oatmeal w/ Chinese Chives & Tofu Ru

I had another huge bowl of the rest of my chives :]

Turkey Oatmeal made with a cup of turkey broth (I have them made from the Thanksgiving turkey and frozen in 1c baggies), tons of shredded turkey breast, a dash of black pepper and hot pepper flakes :] Wheatberries, flax, wheatgerm (the usual)

Dessert was 28 DELICIOUS candy like cherries!!!!

And then I had tons of work to catch up on… I had a sudden craving for gingerbread cookies… so I had a gingersnap Larabar… and then PB Cookie… and then a Banana Bread *blush* OH but it doesn’t end there. I found a hidden bag of Gummy Tummies (demolished it all) and 2 freshly baked chocolate chip cookies from Sel De La Terre (now in belly)

One day I’m gonna wake up 400 lbs :D Until then thank goodness for metabolism!!!

I whipped up a quick soyogurt, Blackberries, Figs parfait :D

I added tons of cinnamon, wheat germ, flaxseed and wheatberries and headed off to eat it at Starbucks!!!

I enjoyed my usual, Venti Americano!!!

I found some 枇杷 (Pipa)/Loquats at Russo’s today :D OMG, delicious!!! The ones in Rome were better tho…

For dinner I made some Apricot Ginger Pork Loins and Roasted Veggies (zucchini, red pepper, carrots, radishes, sage & asparagus!) I was going to make a Lemongrass Chicken and Papaya Salad, but ended up not cuz I wanted to make something quicker cuz I was feeling nauseous… 

I also finished off a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge bowl of the rest of my butternut squash + Kale soup with shredded turkey breast!!

Lots of hot pepper flakes… I ended the night full but still eating 5 loquats & 38 Longans :D And 2 HUUUUGE glasses of shiraz!!! I REALLLLLLY want a caramel apple right now, but I shouldn’t.. it’s late…

It’s supposed to snow tomorrow…. yay!!! I got WANTED today and ANNE OF GREEN GABLES… but no Britney yet, tomorrow :D

My oatmeals just get more and more decadent and overflowing. Like my new spoon, placemat and bowl? I have 3 more bowls to show off this week :]

Monday, 11/17 —

So after my Soulmate Oatmeal I wanted something refreshing and I waited awhile for dinner so I had a guava!!!

I chugged as much water as possible the whole day… I’ve been feeling UUBER bloated lately :[ & constantly dehydrated…

Dinner was very GREEN!!!

The other two dishes were tofu basil & white asparagus and just sauteed garlic spinach!!!

MY daddy brought back THREE cookies for me from his seminar today :] Lucky little me!!! They were super fresh and deliciously yummie and chewy!!! MMM I love fresh baked goodness. I also watched Kung Fu Panda!!! :] I’m like PO!!! MMM Dumplings!!!

I still felt munchy so I had a super old Rice Krispy Treat, it was a little stale :[ But I’m a fatty and ate it anyways…

And then I finished up my two jars……. yea… scraped them clean @_@ Remember, I’m a fatty ;]

Tuesday, 11/18 —

I was SOO excited about this GREEN POMELO cuz at Russo’s they called it a RUBY POMELO. It was the same inside as my regular ones except it was SMALLER and less sweet.. WTF!! BOOOO!!!

I was sad but the guava made me happy again :]

For dinner I HADDDDDDDDDDDD to make my Fig Oatmeal again….

Wednesday, 11/19 —

I had some freshly made barley, chinese green beans & jujubes for breakfast

It was super yummy, as usual, so I had another bowl!!!

I had my SECOND Iron IV session. They took a few tubes of blood first and then told me that I was improving. My blood volume went from 24% to 27%. The doctor also asked me if I ate. I thought that was funny.

It was brimming and super heavy. The WF here is SO much better than the one near me. PLUS I love their salad bar more.
Corn, Hericots Verts, Beets, Cucumbers, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Edamame, Green Peas, Mixed Greens, Spinach!!!

I ate there (I love their little tables) and had some yummie green/black/white tea blened.


I came home to surprise cookies from mommy from Sel De La Terre!!

And I finished off my gingerlicious Indigo Rabbit cookies…

They were sold to me expired :[ LAME. I didn’t realize this til after… But they were still soft and fluffy!!!

Later I had a bowl of cherries :]

And then it got messy. I had a pack of dried mango.. two little boxes of chocolate and vanilla animal crackers, some taro chips and then like a WHOLE tub of lightly salted peanuts. @_@ OMG. Binge much?!?! I duno what came over me.

Thursday, 11/20 —

I woke up this morning terrified to get on the scale… but phew, I lost some bloat from the past week, back down to 106… I still feel uuber pudgey tho. I haven’t been under 105/106 in like two months :[

I had a mango for… “brunch” cuz my stomach was upset from all the junk last nite.

And later after work I took some fresh air :] Got a nice big venti Americano from Starbucks (w/ cinnamon and nutmeg)

Got some free fudge – PB/Choc and a Praline at a quick stop @ Costco (and I got some books and WALL-E!!!)

All I wanted for dinner was OATMEAL!!!

1/2c Oats
1 1/4c Water
1 Package of Blueberries
1 Honeycrisp Apple
2 tbs WheatGerm
1 tbs Flax
1/4c Wheatberries
Tahitian Vanilla
TONS of cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg

And the remaining HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE amount of my Soyogurt, it’s okay tho because yesterday when I went to the only WF that carries my fav brand of soy yogurt (Wildwood) to get dinner I bought another tub!!!

Soulmate Oatmeal

Some things were just meant to be together.

My oatmeal was just that. Who needs a man when you’ve got oats and a little creativity. They’re cheaper, easier to clean up, tasty, satisfying and all that great consistent quality. Hmmm, altho it’s hard to snuggle with them…

1/2c Oats
1 package of small figs (~136g) I cut them into fours, save one for garnish (cut an X into it but don’t cut thru)
HUGE Splash of Almond Extract
TINY Splash of Vanilla
Large Handful of toasted blanched almonds
1/4c Wheatberries
1 tbs Flaxseed
Like half a cup and then some of Soyogurt :]
1 HEAPING tablespoon (and then some) of LAVENDER HONEY (melted, 15 sec in microwave)

This stuff is ALMOST as amazing as my lovey White Gold Honey!!! (my most favorite!!!)

Figs, Almonds, Honey, Lavender BLEND SOOO WELL TOGETHER!!! I’m in Figgy Heaven!!! Since it’s not really season for figs anymore I’ve been having trouble finding amazing ones, after boxes and boxes of disappointments for weeks I FINALLY found some yummie, tho small, ones!!! YAY!! (ps. make sure they’re squishy!)

I dub thee “Figgy Soulmate Oatmeal” ♥ :]

Blueberry Banana Oatmeal

This was one of my favorite oatmeals I’ve ever made. I LOOOVED it. So I thought I’d share it with you all and do a mini tutorial since one of my friends (Hi Lisa!!!) wanted to know how to make oats!

First, my favorite kind is Bob’s Red Mill’s Organic Thick Rolled Oats.
Just do it!!!

Onwards… to my fabulous orgasmic Blueberry Banana Oatmeal!!!

1/2c Oats
1 1/4c Water
1 Large Banana (ripe!!!)
~1 tsp Mexican Vanilla Extract
1 package of Blueberries
1/4c Wheat Berries 
1 tbs Flaxseedes
Cinnamon (to taste)
2 HEAPING blobs of yogurt (I used Wildwood Organic Soyogurt)
1 Cinnamon Stick (to garnish!!!) 

1. Boil water on HI until bubbly and then pour in oats and stir.

2. Turn heat down to Med-Med Hi and stir, as the water and the oats start to congeal, cut up a banana and add/stir in.

3. Add your vanilla extract…

4. (Don’t forget to stir stir) Add in your cinnamon

5. As it starts to form more oatmeally (after a few minutes) I add in my flaxseed. :]

6. And my wheatberries (love love love the chewiness!!!)

7. When it’s a little runnier than I’d want for my consistency, I added in my blueberries (usually I add them right in the beginning so my oats turn a beautiful rich blue/purple color!!!)

8. Stir stir stir (you can still make your oats blue/purple if you want from here on out but today I wanted them whole and plump  just warmed up so I only stirred them for about a minute or two until the oats fully thickened up!)

9. Pour into big gorgeous bowl (or huge mug, or anything haha, sometimes I eat it out of the pot!) and add as much as yogurt on top as you want. It makes it soooo creamy when you mix it with the oats!!! (you can also use cottage cheese, ricotta, a dab of cream cheese, anything you want, freaking ICE CREAM or PUDDING!!! hahaha)

10. Stick in a cinnamon stick and start chewing!!!

This was my FAVORITE bowl of oats EVER!!!!!… AND this is me popping my banana oats cherry :] Despite the fact that every blogger than their mother (literally!!!) has had banana in their oats, I never had. It added a sweetness that I’m not used to (I never add sugar/syrup/etc to my oats) I love the natural sweetness of fruits and veggies and this was SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! (but if you like it sweet feel free to add brown sugar, agave syrup, maple syrup, anything! I bet some toasted coconut and cinnamon chips would be DELICIOUS!!!) And the MEXICAN vanilla added a delicious smell to it, it just added to the essence of it! YUM!

Health Update & then some…

Today was THE day. Yes, THE day that I went to the Hematologist. I got tons of vials of blood taken, weight (eep! I had JUST eaten SOOO much food and drank so much @_@ argh! I hate getting my weight taken IN clothes AFTER eating/drinking… blah), blood pressure, temp, the works…

Doctor: So you’re a little bit anemic…
Me: Yes…
Doctor: Do you eat well?… Do you bleed?…

[ the usual talk and she glances at the test results from my blood … she did ask me if I had rectal bleeding and I giggled cuz I’m 3.]

*glances at test results*
Doctor: Well you’re SEVERELY anemic. You have pretty much NO iron in your body, you could need a blood transfer if it gets worse… you have a less blood count today than you did two weeks ago… you should eat red meat.
Me: …
Mom: *freaks out*

Ok, that’s not the REAL convo word for word but I’m still woozy from getting my blood taken out.

Jim: poor little tiffie being vampired :(
Me: it’s SO dumb, i need blood but they keep TAKING it

But that pretty much sums it up for ya’ll. There’s also a chance it could be Thalassemia Minor (there’s a good chance cuz I’m Asian!) I’m starting my Iron IV sessions tomorrow (which will be two hours long) and the ones following (up to 4-6, depending) will be about an hour.

GREAT. Me + Hospital are gonna be great buddies.

My doctor kept asking about my eats and if I ate red meat or any meat at all. I told her I was more vegan/vegetarian with maybe some seafood and occasional chicken… It’s strange, while I eat it, I no longer ever crave it so I mainly eat vegan/vegetarian. I’ll still eat meat I just don’t go out of my way to cook it or get any of it unless I’m sharing with other people. I’m a big seafood lover tho. Shrimp, Clams, Fish, Squid, Crabs, Lobster :] But even those I rarely eat anymore… @_@

Breakfast/Lunch was a giant bowl and a half of barley w/ 綠豆 (green beans) & dried and rehydrated longans (I refer to them as two different names… 龍眼 and Taiwanese people generally refer to them as 桂圓)

& of course my vitamins & gummy vites!!!!!

I came home with a list of things and their iron quantities… chocolate & dried peaches were on the list of things with pretty good amounts of iron *snicker* so I had a chocolate covered orange slice and dried peach!!!

I’m getting ready for dinner right now… I’m planning some Orange Cumin Shrimp w/ Tomatillas… Leeks & Chanterelles and some Spaghetti Squash and Roasted Delicatas!!! Everything I’m making seems so yummie but I’m daydreaming about a nice big bowl of BANANA OATS w/ BLUEBERRIES… I think my mom might yell at me tho since it’s not really overflowing with iron @_@ BUT it’s what I CRAVE :[

Cooking with tomatillos for the first time!!!

The shrimps before I tossed it all together with the wilting fresh basil, and tomatillo/hot pepper/spinach/grilled scallions mixture

(I had marinated the shrimps for about an hour with fresh orange zest & juice, garlic, pepper, wine, paprika & cumin!!!.. I think a few other spices too but I don’t remember hahaha)

I know I know I said no candy but I really really needed a few gummies tonite. I’m having a *really* bad nite tonite :[

Nite!!! I have a few things to catch up on work since I’ll be having my first Iron IV session tomorrow afternoon!


Phew I survived last nite without eating anymore. I still could but I stopped myself. But I didn’t end up sleeping until almost 5am :[ I woke up early for work today tooo….. blah!!!

I woke up starving but I had meetings to get ready for and work to be done so I, naughtily, held back on breakfast until my first meeting was over. I also woke up with swollen glands/neck and really stuffed up… Crap! I’m sick :[ What this calls for? Oatmeal!!!!

It looks tiny but wait’ll you see how unsuspectingly big the cup is….

At around 11 I made a delicious HOT STEAMING HUGE BOWL of MANGO Oats!!!

1/2c Oats
1 Whole Mango Chopped up
1/4c Wheatberries
1 tbs Flaxseed
Splash of Tahitian Vanilla

YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM!!! This is one of my HUUUUGE mugs I got from Starbucks over the wkend I talked about. My oats were a little bit more liquidy at first so I had to let it soak up the juices a bit (and I started eating some out of the pot) I ended up sprinkling some shredded toasted coconut on top too but hungrily ate it all before I remembered to take a picture :] It’s taking me almost an hour to finish (still eating it now) The mango has cooked down a lot but there are still some nice chunks in them!!! And of course I LOOOVE my oats a bit chewier and I loooove wheatberries :] Sigh* it’s been awhile Oatmeal, you’re still the bestest!!!
