The Morning After… at Wagamama & SAVORY FROYO at PINKBERRY!!!

Okay, fine. It was the AFTERNOON after.  We didn’t really drink close to enough to be hungover but WHY NOT eat for it? W and I slept in, obviously, but A worked so she met up with us for lunch….. we were gonna head to Cafeteria [MMM Mac&Cheese]… but it was kinda crappy out and W wasn’t feeling well [and had to buy pants!] so we went to Wagamama. MMMM, always a tasty noodly treat.

After going back and forth between a lot of items… we chose.

A got the  Veggie Itame – rice noodles in a spicy green coconut and lemongrass soup topped with stir-fried chicken breast or fried tofu, beansprouts, chillies, red onions, scallions, bok choy, peppers and mushrooms. garnished with cilantro and lime

She let me have a slurp and it was tasty!!!!  I find coconut broths to be heavy but this was pretty good.  Altho fav one would still have to be from Urban Belly. Anyways.  You dont miss the meat at all.

ONE COMPLAINT: They served A’s dish to someone else… next to us.. apparently they always eff up orders here.. it’s good but srsly?! And then “rushed” the re-order but she got hers sooooo long after ours. UGH. Annoying.

I got the Chicken Chili Ramen – spicy broth and ramen noodles topped with fresh chilies, red onion, bean sprouts, cilantro, scallion and a wedge of lime

And W got the same as me but with grilled steak. I should’ve gotten steak :[ My chicken SUCKED and I only had like 1.5 pieces.  But I added a lot of shichimi 七味唐辛子, “seven flavor chili pepper”  in it and made it even spicier.  My nose got sweaty.  They also have soy sauce and chili oil for condiments.

After our bellies were full… A and I hurried over to Pinkberry, right next to Wagamama.. at first W resisted but he gave in and got a cup of froyo too.  BUT, OMG, they have SAVORY toppings now?!?!?!

Yep, those are diced peppers, tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and basil….

Since we’re curious we got given samples.  I tried the cucumber, pepper, EVOO and a tasty spice.. maybe paprika?!  And a salty sunflower cracker.  A had the one with olives, pesto, tomato and another cracker :]  It’s actually served with their Greek Yogurt and was surprisingly really tasty.  *cue W’s face squishing in disgust* hahaha…

I ended up with this tho, sweet for me !!!
Half strawberry, half salted caramel with mangoes and raspberries!

DEEEEEEEEEELISH!

After shopping around a bit and relaxing W went to prep for the dinner and I did a little work.. and by little I mean little… cuz soon I was dressed and ready to head out for drinks and dinner with the chefs.

When I finally got to shake Ken Oringer’s hand, I may have a giggled one too many times. OOPS. These may have been to blame.  I had a champagne cocktail, some of W’s drink and this tequila/jalapeno smokey drink [with mango ice cube YUM].

We ended up not eating dinner with the chefs, just had a few drinks and then W and I went to O Sushi for a delicious sushi/sashimi dinner.

It was the first time I had their Hamachi Kama – only disappointment was this Tako [octopus] dish that was just salmon and octopus chopped in cubes with cubed tomatoes and cuc and etc… meh.  But Hamachi Kama had crispy skin and juicy moist meat. YUM – I had a delicious Lychee Saketini along with the meal as well :] NOM!  They give you a shaker full so you get about two martini glasses!!!

Nothing Mini about Minibar at the Copley Square Hotel

I was hungry.  SOOO hungry especially since W ate the rest of my sammy.. good thing we ate a lot.  but we HAD to watch How I Met Your Mother. OK fine let’s just get a quickie bite of small eats… I’ve been wanting to go to Minibar for awhile and was just too damn lazy to cross the street everytime I was shopping Copley – I even had a groupon or a Gilt thing for this. Ooops.

Our waitress was SO cute :] We both had bright red lipstick on *instant connection* hahahaha…

I started off with this, our waitress’ recommendation…

Ox-Tail

Supposed to be with Gin but I got it with Vodka [recommendation from Waitress]…. St. Germain, Rosemary, Lemon & Grapefruit

It was super yummy so I got another one after I slurped this up.  The food came out kinda slow so I was pretty much done with my first glass when it came.

These actually came out last, which I’m not used to, but I wanted to put it first so everything would seem right in the world.

Garnished Local Oysters

I’m not a huge fan of pre-garnished oysters, I like to DIY with tabasco, lemon, horseradish, cocktail sauce… Wasn’t too into the red pepper but they were fresh :]

Za´atar Fried Chicken Wings

These were hot and delicious.  It was strange cuz usually I wouldn’t like a wing with a spice crust like this, it was thick and covered it but it was SOOOO GOOD :] So nice to eat a different kind of wing every now and then. Altho my heart will always belong to Hooters HAHAHAHA #classy…. and Firefly’s GIAAAANTTTT wings YUM

Parmesan & Herb Pomme Frites with Black Truffle Aioli

I. Love. Frites.

That is all. These were DEEEEEEEEEEVOURED.

Mini Burgers / Grilled New England Ground Beef / Vermont Sharp Cheddar / Spicy Aioli

Got them medium rare, but they came out more on the rare side which I l  I looooove!!!! These were so cute and the bun was nice and fluffy… nice thick juicy meat  WHICH I LOVE – just say no to thin flimsy patties – MMMMM… pickle!  I didn’t taste any spicy Aioli but the cheese was also a nice thick layer MMMMMM…. Need mustard.

#mustardwhore

:]

g’nite folks

Saturday, Sunday Funday and 16$ Prime Rib Night at Bullfinchs for Prez Day

Didi loves her new friend Pink Taco :] Pink Taco misses her sister, Pink Taco who’s now in Frisco with Kelly.

Just to warn you, this is gonna be a long one, I decided to squish the whole long weekend into one post – SO DEAL! I don’t think I need to post my Cartman youtube video again.

OK so to be honest, I had other plans for this Sunday and Monday.  But after a delicious dinner at Met Bar + Grill and a bit of crazy family drama after… [I am ASIAN after all…*rolls eyes*]

Anyways I knew things were gonna come so I had a Blueberry Beer.. and a cocktail, Shooting Star, and then some… ugh to anxiety

Guacamole & Chips, I love how fresh they make it!

Calamari

Burger with Pulled Pork, Fried Egg, Fries & Pickle

Miso Salmon

Burger in a Arugula Bowl: Kobe Beef, Fried Egg, Foie Gras, Sauteed Mushrooms, Red Onion, Bibb, Sprouts, Jalapenos & Swiss

Warm Chocolate Chip Pie

THEN the drama while home watching a movie and drinking some great red wine…. And then it was the whole awkward, I’m gonna act like nothing happened….

I was at Brunch at Bullfinchs [My favorite neighborhood restaurant] on Sunday…. Me and my family are regulars there and we know the owner :]  Well, kinda, she recognizes us [which is pretty easy to do I guess] and knows my name hahaha… I live in SUCH a white town tho, aside from the Chinese restaurants I never see any minorities here.

Bellinis!!!! How come I’ve never gotten them here? I’m such a big mimosa and bloody mary girl… but lately I’ve been getting into Bellinis…

Carbo loading before we get our food…. I LOOOOVE their bread plates!!! I’d call them muffins but they’re totally cupcakes, scones, coffee cake, etc.. lots of fresh soft butter and raspberry jam!

My bellini!!!  With a gorgeous slice of fresh peach in it :] YUM!  It was SUCH a treat at the end of the drink…. super super boozey hahaha

I got my favorite omelette there with Spinach, Mushrooms and Tomatoes with wheat toast and obviously a side of Bacon

I also stole some of my dad’s HUGE Italian Sausages… [that sounds so dirty] but these things are HUUUUUGE juicy and AMAZZZZZZZING!!!

I was SOOO hungry still after my meal tho… I stole my parents’ toast and munched on them.. :] LOVE whole grain bread.. the more seeds and nuts the better!  Extra butter please….

Afterwards I headed to Chestnut Hill / Newton with the puppy for coffee, snacks and just to wander. Beautiful day.

I actually had been braising some delicious Pork Butt all day since 10am…. so when I went home I made the rest of Taco Night.. YES.. my famous taco night.. I finally got to treat my parents to it.  Just seemed wrong that I’d spend so long making this dinner for guys I date, usually one of the first things I ever make a guy, and not my own parents.

Spicy Mango Corn Salsa

Habanero Guacamole with Pom Seeds

After 8+ hours of braising in the oven… deliciousness… this was right when I started pulling the Pork Butt apart <3 The right chunk was sooo fatty and amazing!!

My first taco of the night :]  With all the fixin’s… and tons of super super super spicy salsa verde and jicama strips… YUM!

.. BUT YEAH… Back to being at Bullfinch’s for brunch…. so I was there and saw that was having a PRIME RIB night on President’s Day for only 16$ a plate. OMG. Baked Potato, GINORMOUS hunk of delicious fatty juicy meat and veggies galore… MMMMM.. so ready for it’s close up. So here’s how President’s Day went:

After a quickie brekky of oatmeal I headed into town to lunch and shop with Mommy..

Oatmeal, Kiwi, and Short Skirt sort of day…

Saw an ad for this, need to get ON this shizz. But YAY Godfather bought me tickets to goooooo <3 SOOO HAPPY!! I LOOOOVE Les Mes.. I hadn’t seen it since.. Middle School? Frosh of HS?! I don’t remember.. but I remember going on the FRENCH class field trip even tho I was taking spanish cuz the teacher loved me :] HAHAHA…. We went to NYC for the day :D AWESOME!! I think it was the first time I ever went to Manhattan!!!

Even tho I had brekky super late in the day I was starved so I stopped by O Sushi for a few snacks… this was like 1/10 of what I ate, but these are prettier pictures…

ANYWAYS SO HERE IS THE MAIN EVENT! PRIME RIB NIGHT AT BULLLFINCHS!

Super crusty fresh made Fluffy Bread. OMG this was SOOOO amazing. SOOO GOOD.. Rosemary EVOO, Soft fluffy creamy butter and OMG this bread I could eat for days!!!

Filet of Sole

Roasted filet of sole finished with a Dijon dill vinaigrette; served with vegetable and harvest rice pilaf

It tasted a bit too mayo-y so I wasn’t so into it.. but mommy liked it :] But the star of the night was obviously the prime rib… we decided to share this and a fish dish but in retrospect we should’ve gotten our own.

Prime Rib

Baked Potato, Horseradish and sour cream. I DEVOURED EVERYTHING except just a bit of the fat, there was a lot of fat BUT I love fat. HAHAHAHA.. but large chunks of it IS a bit too much even for me…. DELICIOUS tho. Got it Medium Rare cuz mom wanted it medium and I wanted it rare #compromise!

A few glasses of wine later, we were ready to pop but still wanting sweets….

Dessert sampler…

Starting Top Left CW: Limoncello Cheesecake,  Crème Brulée, Chocolate Mousse, Warm Apple Crisp w/ Vanilla Ice Cream

My favorite was the apple crisp. I LOOOVE warm desserts, I even have a battle scar from this dessert to prove it.  The limoncello cheesecake was full of flavor but just WAY. TOO. SWEET #sigh…  delicious and we licked the plate clean, nonetheless… AHHHH…. #diabetes

Confession:

I have a thing for Bologna Lunchables ;D

Which always reminds me of “Mortadella.. the fancier version of Bologna”

A night out at Turner’s Fisheries

My parents’ best friends’ kid is in Boston for school so on Holidays my parents’ like to take him out to eat. We were a little behind for CNY but espeically since I’ve been sick so we rescheduled for the other day…. my mom and I got to Copley Center a bit early to shop around a bit and met up with him for dinner around 7 at Turner Fisheries – yum!  I haven’t been here in a long time so it was good to be back, usually when I’m in the shopping center there I just head to O Sushi to eat [which is right next door]

While my mom met up with the kid I got our table and had a glass of bubbly while I waited…

Yummy bread basket…

It’s 1$ Oysters woohoo!!!! So of course I had to order some for us.  East Coast, local, obviously, my fav, and SOOOO delicious!

1$ Oysters

BANG’S ISLAND MUSSELS

cured vine-ripened tomato, chorizo, sauvignon blanc

So delicious and full of flavor.  The chorizo is crumbled and the tomato were like fluffy flavor punches like a sun-dried tomato…. the sauce was simply fantastical.  I licked this bowl clean… great for sopping up with bread!

CRISPY CALAMARI

pappadew peppers, capers, roasted garlic aioli

I don’t like it when the aioli gets poured all over the calamari because it makes it softer.  But they were lightly fried, barely battered and delicious.

HYBRID STRIPED BASS

butternut ragout, cannellini beans, broccoli rabe

Mommy ordered this and she loved it.  The Broccoli Rabe was a bit on the oily side but the ragout was sweet and delicious and paired well with the simply cooked bass.

GRILLED SALMON

salsify, snow pea, cara cara orange horseradish sauce

I didn’t get to try this, but the kid seemed to love it and ate it clean.

NEW ENGLAND BOUILLABAISSE

northern shrimp, bay scallops, mussels, hook caught haddock, saffron tomato broth, rouille

Obviously this was mine! I looooooove seafood soups… I wish there was more shellfish in it but everything was perfectly cooked and super fresh.  The flavors were banging and the fish was SOOOO tender.  The rouille was buttery, cheesy and seafood-y. YUM

WARM BOURBON GLAZED PECAN PIE

butternut squash gelato

This was DELICIOUS.  The gelato was the best part!  Tasted like Thanksgiving happiness.  The pecan pie itself was a little tart and SOOO GOOD – it wasn’t overly sweet or rich and was chock full of delicious pecans. NOM!

GOLD DUSTED OPERA CAKE

raspberry coulis

A bit on the sweet side but delicious layers of chocolate, hazelnut mousse and chocolate cake.  A delicious and super sweet way to end a nice light meal.

O Sushi

When I’m shopping in Copley.. I usually end up eating at Turners, ThePalm or usually here, O Sushi. The sushi is fresh and it’s a cute small restaurant. The service can be slow and but it’s great for a nice relaxing lunch or an early dinner IMO. When I have a mommy-daughter shopping day we tend to go here [especially since after I bought like 02394830924 groupons for it last year hahaha]

Our typical dinner date:

Green Tea-tini

Green Tea, Sake and happiness..lots of happiness..and my own mini shaker… damn I wanted to write jigger HAHA but that’s not what they’re called.. jiggers that other thing…

JIGGER =

JIGGERS=

Hehehe I like how they look like they’re tanning on the beach… har har har.. ok back to the food…

Edamame, cuz I’m white

Lightly salted boiled green soybeans

I say because I’m white because non-asians always order this, but then so do asians…. it’s like spring rolls and duck sauce for the Japanese I guess but it’s delicious.. and healthy :] Addicting… I always have a few bags of these frozen in my freezer for a hunger attack.

Sake Clams

Steamed clams in a sake sauce with ginger and scallions – perfection

Ume Ceviche

Sliced Shiromi and tako with wakame and asparagus dressed with ume-boshi (plum) dressing and shiso oil

I always get this. I love asparagus [pee] and love octopus [tako] soooooooo :] Why not?!?!?!….

Soft Shall Crab Nan-Ban (for Mommy)

Soft Shell Crab tempura served with sweet and sour marir sliced onion, cucumber, kaiware

She’s obsessed with soft shell crab and even though she shouldn’t really be eating it I give her an exception when we come here….

Takoyaki

They originally had the dish in a soup/broth but I told them I just wanted them plain :] Forgot to tell them not to put mayo on it but thankfully it wasn’t covered in it… phew needs more bonito <3 But everything always could use more bonito…

Dragon Roll (for Mommy]

Shrimp tempura, unagi and avocado topped with layered avocado

Sashimi Plate (for me, obviously lol)Salmon, Tuna, Scallop and Baby Hamachi

Simple, quick easy and the tini went down deliciously :]
