A week in Boston…

I’m behind and have a million things to blog about. I may blog less, but I certainly don’t eat any less… ;D So I was back in Boston for the past week, er well last week…. but I’ve been busy chowing down….

There was O Sushi at Copley with mommy :] One of our fav quickie lunch stops when we go on shopping sprees [and we DID spree… Jimmy Choo specifically]..

There was also Hamachi Kama, Seaweed Salad, Edamame, Eggplant and other snackies :]

And then there was using another one of my Groupon certificates [I’m obsessed] for Sel De La Terre… one of my fav places to go, outside of Boston, when I’m at home.


Apple Street Farms heirloom tomato salad with Boston bibb lettuce, crumbled feta; harissa vinaigrette


Hearts of romaine with bosc pears, shaved red onion, Fourme D’ambert, candied nuts; sherry vinaigrette


Pan seared East Coast halibut, sweet corn grits, romaine fondue, confit cherry tomatoes


Grilled rainbow trout, eggplant caponata, wilted baby arugula; bacon vinaigrette

And then there was brunch before watching Eat, Pray, Love on Sunday :] Everyone should know by now that Brunch is my favorite meal of the day. We ate at Met Bar.

The movie, by the way, was sooo great. I’ve read the book before and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie as well. Is it just me or is Julia Roberts getting more and more gorgeous as she gets older?!… Not only that, it made me LONG for a trip back to La Bella Roma…. the pasta… the fresh food, the smells, the wines, the views, SIGH* Someone take me, please?!

That nite before I went back to the City, my mommy made a plethera of dishes, again, including spicy marinated cold seaweed salad… Halibut,, Ketchup Shrimp.. these things were as big as LOBSTER tails!!!… some Crispy Duck and of course lots of veggies :] NOM!
Tonite?!… I made a zesty blanced asparagus, heirloom tomato, vidalia onion balsamic dressed salad with garlicky baked potaters and a filet mignon for me [rare] and a nice big ribeye. I have onion breath, so you better find it sexy. If not. Too bad :D

BTW, I realize now that I STILL haven’t blogged about Yakitori Totto… *fail* tomorrow will be the day… as will my blogging about Agua Dulce, a few dishes I cooked at home and of course, the fantabulous LE BERNARDIN <3

Craved raw fish the other night… so me and a friend headed to Oishii Too… my fav sushi place.

Memorial Weekend ’09

This weekend, I got a special visitor early Friday morning :] And so began our amazing food journey for the entire weekend… enjoy :D

Friday

First stop was one of my favorite sushi places. It’s also really close to my house… so Oishii Too we go.

the naughty > the nice…

i’m sooooooooooooooo borrrrrrrrrrrrring. i swear i’m gonna start posting more… and it has been more than i was before…. what happened to me?!… well i was determined to start this wk… but then my mom and i got into this bet with losing weight. she’s determined to lose 2 lbs this wk and if i help her out she’ll help me out. if only one of us loses 2 or more lbs, she’ll pay half of my cc bill. if we BOTH do, she’ll pay all of it (next month) … sounds good to me :] esp since my jeans are starting to get a little tight… altho it’s been hard with life surrounded by yummie japanese snacks, pastries, brownies (and special homemade truffles i got last wk :] )

so therefore…. BORING WEEK. i swear i’ll start…. uh…. i would say next week but i’m getting my wisdom teeth out. i guess i can just post boring “nice” foods. (but i’ll start later.. maybe tmw, maybe tonite… maybe next week when i only have liquids and mush…)

ANYWAYS… i only wrote “nice” so i could get the “naughty” in :] and i can because i want to.

Light on the Dinner, Heavy on the Snacking

First off… I thought you guys would enjoy seeing a pic of my new food scale :]

My kiwi is 106 grams.

Thought I’d show you a quick snippit of my fridge… SOO much stuff, this is nearing empty too :] I go grocery shopping on Saturdays or Sundays, OVERstuff it but somehow by Friday or Saturday it’s empty again…

See all the apples, oranges, SHROOMS, some pre-cut butternut… pineapple… I always have TONS of fruit handy… tomatoes, veggies…. yogurt…


Chicken stock, Almond Milk… Kimchi *loves* Sake, Korean Hot Paste… UMMM, bacon…. different kinds of hot sauce (which reminds me I should show you my spices and sauces :] My pride truffle oils and EVOOs… millions of different kinds of hot sauces/spices :] HAR HAR… Ugh I see mayo but I don’t like mayo, it’s not mine… haha and it’s been there unopened for ages…

As I was about to start eating, Dior was going nutty and decided to stare at where her bowl should be. We both eat dinner around 7ish usually and today it was a lot later than usual.

So I fed her before I dug in….

MMMM, my first time tasting Baby Hamachi, it’s not as fatty as the regular Hamachi, I really liked it :]  The super white tuna was soooo fresh and tasty today :] I prefer it over all the other kinds of toro… altho fatty tuna is pretty good too..  SALMON is still my fav tho.. altho I didn’t enjoy it AS much today *strange*

The Hamachi Kama was SOOOOOO good. And it’s so worth it too, they actually gave me TWO pieces, I’ve only been to places where I get one puny one but these were both delicious and tender and meaty!!!! SOO good, I cleaned them off and sucked each part dry. I just didn’t eat the skin just a nibble or two… wasn’t feeling it today… it was tasty but there was too much to eat.

I also had some, of course, hot green tea with my dinner :] I really craved some hiya yakko & ohitashi today but I’m glad I didn’t get it… Cuz I ALWAYS get them… next time :] MMM bonito flakes!!!! And I’m really glad I tried the BABY Hamachi…. drool* Really good… and the Hamachi Kama… best appetizer ever!!!

And then, also OF COURSE, I had desserts w/ a yummy cold glass of Vanilla Almond Milk :]

My last Sel De La Terre Brownie *dip* It said it was gonna last til 10/13 but.. eh I don’t want it to sit THAT long….

My mom decided to cut my Mamey Sapote but it wasn’t fully tender/ripe yet… so not sweet or creamy enough.. I think we’re just gonna turn it into a smoothie for breakfast :]

And then I went downstairs to watch R-Point..

After awhile I got hungry again…

CHEW CHEW CHEW.. It takes me awhile to eat one cuz I just take a little nibble of a nut/date and chew chew chew, I get really upset when I run out of nuts…

I WANT ANOTHER ONE SOOO BADDDD >_<; But if I continue eating them I might as well just be eating larabars instead….
