Bourbon Steak is a go to in DC.. and a place W and I like to head to just cuz… especially when we’re craving a good burger. But I don’t think we’ve ever gone for a burger and ONLY gotten a burger. As soon as I was done with work I slipped on some clothes and we headed over for some food.
When I sat down I ordered a champagne cocktail.. but was quickly presented with a yummy special one from the head bartender, Dwayne. YUM!

Like always we were soon after presented with the Trio of Duck Fries. YUM – Crisp, flavorful and yummy, piping hot, they NEVER disappoint. And I love how they switch up flavors and dipping sauces all the time. WOOHOO.
Raw Oysters with a Kimchi Sauce…
Delicious and fresh. Tasty. The kimchi wasn’t chunky like I thought it would be. And see those little white balls? They’re little rice balls.
An amazing Rockfish Crudo
Sooooo many elements but the taste came out sooo simple and fresh. A mixture of sweet – from the melon – and salty, different textures of the raw fish to the crunch of the shallot and then the creamy sauce.

I love anything with tomatoes and mozz. Maybe not the best season for tomatoes this year but I thought it was tasty anyways. I loved the little marshmallows of mozz! So cute and pillow-y. FLUFF.
Deconstructed Bahn Mi
This was SOOOO GOOD. Everything about it was amazing. Creamy liver pate on a nice brioche… and then some meats on the side. AMAZING.
Calamari with Chorizo and Brioche Croutons
This was a HUUUUUUUGE bowl of squid. SO freaking much. It was delicious but just SOOO much. I could’ve had a little more chorizo as well :] Teehee.
Sheep Ricotta Agnolotti with Veal Cheeks and Bone Marrow
This was SOOOOOO GOOD!!!! Delicious! The cheeks literally MELTED in my mouth as soon as it hit my tongue. BAM! And the chunks of bone marrow, ahhhh meat butter. <3
And while we were gonna split a burger…. We realized we wanted our own.
I even got a nice salad on the side, NOM NOM I need my greens!!!

I was hungry. So W and I snuck out of the apt to go get some food at Bourbon Steak. I haven’t been to the DC one since my second trip to DC earlier in the year…. We grabbed a seat at the bar, our usual go to spot at any resto, and ate; W caught up with a ton of people he used to work with. THEY. LOVE. HIM. THERE. Hahaha.
W got an Arnold Palmer.. and I was given a Strawberry Lemonade – both Virgin
Since we got some dogs I got a beer as well. YUM
And then the hot dogs from the “Dog Days of Summer” Menu —

Soft Fluffy but not really cheesy. I couldn’t taste cheddar. I love corn dogs though. NOM NOM NOM. The corn bread was thick and tasty.

The half-smoked was a bit tough and chewy for me. I love the buttered bun though.. was toasted and yummy.

After a few hours at the Pig & Whiskey 2012 event out in Ferndale… we went to the pool and then after a shower I slept off the beer and whiskey. Previously we were thinking of heading to Lodge Diner for some chicken noodle soup but we decided just to head downstairs for a burger at Bourbon Steak. If you haven’t noticed yet, W and I LOOOOOVE our burgers, especially him. We sat in the lounge area and got the burger menus. WEEEE… fun!!!!
The menu said up to five toppings but me being me I loaded up on my burger. It ended up being so big I couldn’t fit it in my mouth :[ HAHA. Before we even ordered though, we were given some delicious red wine and the signature Bourbon Steak duck fat fries trio. YUM
I got a Market Garden Salad to start… delicious crunchy crostini on top… some butternut squash, pom seeds, red onions, goat cheese and delicious greens. The dressing was a bit on the heavy side but it was still very tasty.
W and I also split an adult milkshake. We each got our own half-glass :]

Worked late and then headed over to one of W’s restaurants, Bourban Steak, for some grub. I was craving some raw meat and W knows me too well so I sipped my water and the first thing I got sent was delicious RAW BEEF!

You’ve heard about my delicious conquests in Detroit. But let’s get down to the real point, I’ve been eating out for 10+ days and it’s taking a toll on me. I’ve been trying to be healthy and eating most salads for lunch and yogurt/cereal or oatmeal for breakfast but there has been a lot of snacking between – a lot of sodium , and yes, free concierge level = LOTS of free snacking, cheese, desserts, chips, etc…. by the end of the week I had gained about 6lbs… and it’s been almost a week after and I’ve only lost half of that. Haha. Need to get in shape for Miami next weekend….
I got a nice fruit plate by the pool while W went to the barbershop to get a haircut. He had a freaking afro – awesome, but I guess only awesome for me haha he hated it. We relaxed and lounged the whole day…. dinner was BURGER! Why?
I needed to be apart of this Bourbon Steak burger month! And while I’m insanely jealous looking at Chef Adam Sobel’s burgers for the one in DC [like this pastrami and double double OMG]….. the one they were offering her in Detroit this week was a SPICY one, which OBVIOUSLY caught my eye.

The last ones were my favorite. I eat rosemary frites way too much. They were also cold, the others weren’t. Weird huh? And I thought whilst eating these fries, so many places have duck fat fries now… they’re not so fun and I can’t really tell the difference anymore. Time to start frying fries in bacon grease. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! MY IDEA!

My Fire Alarm Beef Burger

I got it rare, obviously and it was SUPER raw. Haha, it wasn’t too bad, it wasn’t completely balanced in flavor tho… some bites were better than others. There were a few bites that tasted… gamey? I duno maybe the beef wasn’t that fresh? I love raw beef but some bites were meh and I had huge chunks of cracked peppercorn, one got stuck in my teef. I wanted more bang for my buck – more spice :[ Kinda disappointed. No need for a fire alarm…. I did like the fluffy bun tho. Buns are VERY important in making a good burger but the meat is the most important and it just didn’t cut it for me. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it so I stuck to fries, my delicious glass of Rioja and politely ate half and took the rest back to the room.
I got really hungry later…… and while usually I’d inhale burgers and leftovers like crazy….
I did that to a bag of buttery popcorn instead :]

I started off the day with some hoarding at the concierge lounge. HAHA. Oatmeal, pastries.. coffee, OJ, yogurts, cereal, fruits.. etc….
And then I did some work.. okay fine, I did a lot of work… but this caught my eye whilst the drama…. riot? protest? oh #detroit

Piggy piggy piggy, I could eat it for days, this was like butter in my mouth…. dissolving on my tongue in piggie deliciousness. Amazing greens.. perfectly wilted and then a nice crispy tater… MMMM…. It’s always a miracle when anyone can get me to eat potatoes. I’m SOOO picky about my potatoes… it’s usually only chips, fries and dirty mashed potatoes. HEE HEE… And potato skins..
Love of my life made a delicious meal that I loved. Sorry I got too happy and drunk to remember full details. BUT I LOVED IT. I am a really really really blessed girl :]

I got a last minute appoitment to the spa for a massage… they sent me up a robe and slippers… I asked for a small robe… hahahahah this thing was falling off of me and bits and bittys were wiggling out.
After a lovely relaxing Calm Massage at the Immerse Spa I headed back to the room, STARVING for some grub and bubbles…. the server was SO nice and gave me free glasses of red wine HAHA…

I wasn’t terribly hungry, for once, so W cooked me up a beautiful rare Filet :D
I was sitting at the bar and made friends. One of them goes “WOW you really like your meat…” and I said “MOOOOOOING” hahahaha I also got to try my neighbor’s Kansas City Strip.. I’ve never even heard of it.. apparently it’s just a New York strip without the bone? Or whatever. HAHA.

Afterwards we headed to the club, where I got my dance on for a bit hehehe. The night ended when I got sick of the creeps hahaha, one guy offered me a drink, sure why not. As he’s getting it, he’s like… “so if I get you this drink, you will dance with me, ONLY ME, for the REST OF THE NIGHT.” I gave him the BIGGEST stinkeye poopface look and went “UGH” hahahaha and ran back to W LOL, we left soon after hahahaha and ate a Turkey club & fries in bed LOL yummmm!!!!
Before I begin let me explain the post title. I spent most of the weekend sick in bed. I was well taken care of thanks to W :] But still, sick in bed, in fact the only thing that stayed in my stomach all of Saturday was some liquids and a Peachie-O, yes SINGULAR, A Peachie-O!
\As soon as I was picked up we headed to The Italian Store for a yummy sub… or three. The last time I was here they made me so so happy so I wanted another :] W remembered.. teehee… so 3 Capris [prosciutto, genoa salami, provolone cheese and spiced capacola ham] please. Mine with extra mustard, no mayo, onions and extra hot peppers :D Good thing I whined to go get a burger at Bourbon Steak FIRST, before eating the subs, because later that night and the next day, W and I got food poisoning from it. Yep, I spent Saturday puking my brains out and only got to visit the Portrait Gallery for a few minutes… I spent more time in the bathrooms…. BUTTTTT at least I started off the trip/weekend with a deliiiiiicious happy happy joy joy meal!!!
Bourbon Steak is located in the Four Seasons hotel in a cute area full of stores and restaurants.. bustling with peoples.. I’d totally wanna stay here if I had to choose a hotel…
So we came in just for a burger. W used to work here so everyone knew and loved him. We sat at the bar and I tried the “Winter Flower” – obviously a champagne cocktail – house spiced grenadine, prosecco, lemon twist
It was delish! That’s why I took a picture of it halfway thru and I had another one after :D teehee…..
WELL. We CAME for just a burger… but since W and Exec Chef Adam Sobel are such good buddies [and worked together here], we got the royal treatment and got a plethora of yummy delights :] I am DEFINITELY NOT complaining!!!!

I’m getting old :[ I need to start bringing a notebook and writing notes when I go out to eat. OMG I’m turning into my mom.

These were super yummy…. how can you NOT love nutella and salty caramel AND hazelnuts?! Such the ULTIMATE ice cream sandwich. As soon as you bite into it the ice cream pops out.. WHICH I learned from watching L eat the first one HAHAHAHAH… so i was careful and nibbled slowly hahahahahah still oozey, but no gushing…
