Brunch is my favorite Meal of the Day

“There are very few things this New Yorker loves as much as Sunday brunch. You can sleep until noon and still get eggs anywhere in the city, alcohol is often included with the meal, and Sunday is the one day a week you get the single woman’s sports pages: the New York Times wedding section.”

– Carrie, Sex and the City

Despite feeling sick all week, and well, being down right nauseous most of the time and not eating as well as I usually do… the weekend turned out to be a great weekend of feasting. Thankfully I was able to keep all that delicious food in!  Let’s start out with a quick recap….. David Yurman/Chicago Mag event, tapas & sangria with great people (including the awesome Rick and the gorgeous Raechelle) at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!… Steven (boyfriend’s brother)’s Birthday dinner at Custom House (which I’ll be posting about in the next few days!) Another yummy tapas meal at Meson Sabika and then…. the star of today’s post… Chaise Lounge‘s VERY FIRST BRUNCH…. EVER!!!!

BTW, it was absolutely PERFECTION!… great that it was after Halloween… you know to beat those hangovers.. not that I had a hangover or overdrank or anything.. but boyfriend & I had been starved after coming home from K’s Halloween party in the ‘burbs. This helped satisfy our hunger MUCHO!

The first thing we got offered was to make our own bloody marys from the bloody mary cart that got pushed over next to our table :D

partially drunken Bloody Mary a la Tiffie
Belvedere Vodka, Chaise’s own mix, Jalapenos, Pepperjack Cheese & Chorizo stuffed Olives, Worcester Sauce, & fresh Cracked Pepper

This was soooo tasty! The stuffed olives were amazing!!!… I’m not a big bloody mary fan and while Rick’s bloody marys from the Three Sisters event are still my fav, these were delicious!!!

Buttermilk Biscuits and Gravy

Smoked Tasso Ham, Rosemary Gravy, Southern Style Biscuits

Super tasty biscuits and the most scrumptious gravy!!! MMMM, nothing like nice thick chunky gravy… pork does everything good :D

Shrimp and Grits

Laughing Bird Shrimp, Three Sisters Garden Grits, Charred Peppers, Aged Cheddar

THESE WERE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE OF THE BRUNCH!!!! I actually ended up eating only two bites and saving my portion of the grits for the end of the meal!!! :D YESSS, THEY WERE THAT GOOD!!!!!! I’m not even a big grits fan… I see it on the menu, I’m probably not toooooo excited to order it.. but these?!?!? *kisses fingertips*

Huevos en Infierno

Two Eggs Baked in a Spicy Tortilla and Tomato Sauce, Grilled Garlic Bread

Such a tasty dip!!! Two delicious yolky eggs…. dip dip dip dip :D YUM! The tasty flavorfull garlic bread worked perfectly with it!

Cuban Croque Madame

Jamon Serrano and Pulled Turkey, Fried Egg, Roasted Brioche, Pepperjack Mornay Sauce

This was tough to eat… cut this end, ham and turkey squirts out the other.. but with the perfect balance act and layering skills I could make perfect bites. Each component was so crucial!!!

Fried Chicken and Waffles

Buttermilk Soaked and Fried Half Chicken, Housemade Waffle, Honey Butter

I do NOT remember the last time I had fried chicken. Seriously. Two years ago maybe? At least… But these worked so well together. Maybe another waffle would’ve helped (since we all shared the waffle) but the honey butter was SOOOO good (you know I’m a huge honey fan) and having some on the perfectly fried chicken just worked perfectly! Love love!!!

Market Fruit Crepe

Baked Pears and Figs, Sweet Herbed Crepe, Whipped Creme

Happy Happy Joy Joy! You guys all know that my favorite Soulmate Figgy Oatmeal is Pears and Figs!!! These work soooo well together.. I bet if there was an almond… or cardamom whipped cream it would’ve been delicious. The salad on the side was a little weird (with a vinaigrette).. but the crepes, DELISH!!!

Happy Monday everyone!!!!
