Miami Day 4 & Joe’s Stone Crabs… and 72oz of Margaritas at Primetime

It’s our last day in Miami…. I don’t wanna leave…

Neither does J.

Time to say bye bye to our beloved free amazing gourmet breakfast buffet at Eden Roc

Note: See all of J’s beloved donuts. Yes he’s a donut fanatic. :]

My last free omelette and bacon

Bye Bye Bye :[

Sad Good Bye

Had the most AMAZING time with the most amazing person.

Bye bye Lobby Bar [Bartender Tommy haha J's new friend]

SO OFF WE WENT… hiked the beach… first stop, nostalgia…. Wet Willie’s…. we got some blue shocker mixed margarita. SO sweet…. but hey I felt 18 again.

We continued our long walk on the beach… a nice long walk from Eden Roc [Miami Beach] to the end of South Beach at Joe’s Stone Crabs

Woot woot finally got to sit INSIDE. Last time I was REJECTED cuz of dress code. UH. Tube Top and skirt was a NO-NO.

AMAZING BREAD. Pretzel bread and the flatbread crips were the SHIT!!!

One again I was in charge of food and J was in charge of wines….

Delish!…. he got a Chard… I got… uhhhhhh…….. something spicier?!… I don’t remember..

Crab Nicoise
shaken with jumbo lump crab, locally grown tomatoes,
olives, green beans, eggs, potatoes, red onion & herb vinaigrette

Chock full of fresh sexy crab…. amazing crisps… and just UGH delish!.. Even the dressing was SOOOOOOOO divine!!!!….. I loved how they served this in a cup and shook it out in front of us. HOOKED.

We got the SELECT Stone Crab Claws… I’ve had the medium and I’ve had the jumbo [bigger isn't only better] which were ok, so select was definitely the best choice.

Best last lunch in Miami.

And of course their famous Key Lime Pie.

Demolished. LOVE.

But our day wasn’t over yet. We were determined to get a GIANT margarita on Ocean Drive. So where do we end up? Primetime. Of course :] We could’ve gotten smaller ones but it was 2 for the price of one and I wanted the giant one… so we both got 32oz ones…..

J got the
Aperol Spritz
Aperol Liqueur, Astoria Prosecco and splash soda

And  I got the
Champagne Kiss:
Champagne, Chambord raspberry liqueur blended  to perfection

I was taking pics of us so the waitress offered to help…

Much better..

Bigger than my head.

Tipsy tipsy weeeeeeee… time to head to the airport to drink more….

Simon’s Prime Hamburgers, it’s like Five Guys but Canadian…

After playing on the Detroit side, we decided to go to the Canadian side for the carnival there and the fireworks…. so we packed our backpacks and off to Windsor, Ontario Canada we go..

HAHAHAHAHA

SMOOOOOOOTH… I can’t stop laughing at these ads.. google them, they’re hilarious!

We first stopped by a Tobacco shop for some cigars :] The guy seemed talkative and probably lonely? Windsor is such an empty city.  But yeah you can drink 19+ but then you can only get tobacco 19+ too. Not bad.

And while we wandered to search for our hotel, my eye caught this.. so obviously we had to get some.  We’re both Leos so we got the Leo Bubble Tea from Bubble Tea ExpressHibiscus + Litchi with tapioca pearls and we added some Mango Jelly for more texture. YUM.  This was SO delicious, not too sweet with a slight plum tart taste to it.

W sipping away. :]

Our view from the hotel room was PERFECT for the fireworks… and had a gorgeous view of Detroit.  So sad how beautiful Detroit looks from across the river… but then when you’re in it, it’s almost depressing. Womp

WE WERE STARVING.  We only had a bubble tea all day so we HAD to eat something.  We looked for a deli but ended up choosing between burgers and shwarma….  We ended up here at Simon’s PRIME Hamburgers.  Basically a Canadian rip off of Five Guys, but with poutine.

No wimpy burgers for us.

W got the Baconegg’r Double with Fried Egg, Bacon, Cheese, lettuce, Ketchup, Tomato, NO onion

and I got the Big Greek Double with Feta Cheese, Tzatzki, lettuce, Tomato and Onion….

Double is the only way to go. W got bored of his burger half way but I loved mine, for a double patty burger it was surprisingly light, probably because all the condiments were pretty light and fluffy. The bun disappeared in your mouth and kinda demolished but I liked that it wasn’t heavy or too chewy. FLUFF FLUFF.  We didn’t realize that the burgers CAME with fries so we had a side of fries. SHAME ON YOU CASHIER! You’re supposed to warn us.

Fries overload.  They were SO tasty tho.  Perfectly crispy and fried.

Riverdays, Scary Carnival Rides + Diner Food – DETROIT

What better way to start the day than to sleep in and head down to the pool?  I played some word search, splashed in the pool and then….

HOT TUB <3 Oh I’ve missed you so.

There was some showers during the day so we were gonna just go to Motor City to wander and eat BUT the weather didn’t seem to bad so we did what we initially planned to do.. Riverdays at the Riverfront with a Carnival, Jazz and a Boyz II Men concert. BOMB DIGGITY!

Looking into Canada

Carnival!!!

only wanted to ride the scary rides…

This was my first and ended up being the best one…

I did the peace fob sign and everyone looked at me funny. BTW, out of the WHOLE place, I was the token Asian, you think I’m kidding but I’m SOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOO serious.

Boyz II Men singing I’ll Make Love to You <3 Classic

After a fun sweaty time and winning a piggie.. we headed to the GM Ren Cen center to wander…

And ultimately ending up at the Lodge Diner in Motor City for dinner!

Seriously the place was practically empty and yet we had a 10 minute wait, a couple RIGHT behind us was told 15 minutes. WTFREAK?! Good food tho… so I guess worth it.

We had awesome game placemats… I got sudoku and W got wordsearch, how fitting, our favorites!!!

We both started with a Chicken Noodle Soup which we doused with Tabasco… sooooo chunky, fresh and delicious

We waited for a table longer than the food took to get to us LOL

W’s Pot Roast, Mashed Taters and Veggies…

Pot Roast was super tender but apparently they give different portions each time.. last time he had this he said the amount of pot roast to mashed potatoes was flipped… :[ Suck

The meat shirt I got him TEEHEE…

….and then he got pot roast on himself where it says “Not Meat. Kidding!” LOL

My Garden Omelette.. I have a thing with breakfast for dinner, esp at diners…

Fresh huge pieces of fruit, the omelette was HUGE and filled with delicious crunchy veggies.. perfectly cooked and the hash browns were crispity and perfect.

Piggie helped me eat.. my wheat toast was toasted perfect and smoothered with butter NOM!

Best napkins EVER!!!!

Leaving Detroit with a Bang… or more like a Burger…

You’ve heard about my delicious conquests in Detroit.  But let’s get down to the real point, I’ve been eating out for 10+ days and it’s taking a toll on me.  I’ve been trying to be healthy and eating most salads for lunch and yogurt/cereal or oatmeal for breakfast but there has been a lot of snacking between – a lot of sodium , and yes, free concierge level = LOTS of free snacking, cheese, desserts, chips, etc….   by the end of the week I had gained about 6lbs… and it’s been almost a week after and I’ve only lost half of that. Haha.  Need to get in shape for Miami next weekend….

I got a nice fruit plate by the pool while W went to the barbershop to get a haircut.  He had a freaking afro – awesome, but I guess only awesome for me haha he hated it.  We relaxed and lounged the whole day…. dinner was BURGER!  Why?

I needed to be apart of this Bourbon Steak burger month!  And while I’m insanely jealous looking at Chef Adam Sobel’s burgers for the one in DC [like this pastrami and double double OMG]….. the one they were offering her in Detroit this week was a SPICY one, which OBVIOUSLY caught my eye.

Cornbread with a Maple Bourbon Butter

W has had their cornbread and butter so much he wouldn’t even touch it haha.. but I had a nice corner piece smooooothered in butter. MMMM butter makes everything better!

Trio of Duck Fat Fries

Rosemary w/ Ketchup, SourCream&Onion and Paprika [?]with BBQ

The last ones were my favorite.  I eat rosemary frites way too much.  They were also cold, the others weren’t.  Weird huh?  And I thought whilst eating these fries, so many places have duck fat fries now… they’re not so fun and I can’t really tell the difference anymore.  Time to start frying fries in bacon grease. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! MY IDEA!

Dinner is SERVED!

W’s steak! :]  He was busy watching the Caps-Rangers Hockey Game

W’s Mashed Potatoes – there was a lot of goodies in it.. MMM

My Fire Alarm Beef Burger
Pepper Jack, Jalapenos, Harrisa Aioli, Grilled Onions

Innards

I got it rare, obviously and it was SUPER raw. Haha, it wasn’t too bad, it wasn’t completely balanced in flavor tho… some bites were better than others.  There were a few bites that tasted… gamey? I duno maybe the beef wasn’t that fresh? I love raw beef but some bites were meh and I had huge chunks of cracked peppercorn, one got stuck in my teef.  I wanted more bang for my buck – more spice :[ Kinda disappointed.  No need for a fire alarm.... I did like the fluffy bun tho.  Buns are VERY important in making a good burger but the meat is the most important and it just didn't cut it for me.  I didn't want to make a big deal out of it so I stuck to fries, my delicious glass of Rioja and politely ate half and took the rest back to the room.

I got really hungry later...... and while usually I'd inhale burgers and leftovers like crazy....

I did that to a bag of buttery popcorn instead :]

I left the next morning….

A nice cold Blue Moon with orange slice..

Breakfast of champions

And then this for the airplane ride :] I finally got my banana for my horrible foot cramps!!!

And as soon as I got home I ordered me some sushiiiiiii and sashimi from Fugakyu Cafe <3 WOOOOO – been craving like WHOA

Dinner at Saltwater a la Chef William Morris @will0724 – Beware a sappy post :D

I’m psyched! I’ve had W’s food but not a whole dinner specifically cooked by him for me, well.. you know aside from the obvious, like breakfast and stuff, but I meant at a restaurant… Yes yes yes if you guys haven’t realized by now, guessed or just not… KNEW cuz it’s on my FB, he’s always on my blog AND I talk about him on my twitter 24/7… the love of my life is cutie Chef William Morris of DC. He was up for Hottest Chef of DC on Eater earlier this year… and it all started with pretzels

I love seeing him all cute in his chef clothes :]

I always squeal when I see him at work. He makes magiccccccc with the food and looks adorable doing it. #sappy I know. DEAL WITH IT. It’s my blog and I’m finally in a relationship with someone I actually really like love.

I started off the day with some hoarding at the concierge lounge. HAHA.  Oatmeal, pastries.. coffee, OJ, yogurts, cereal, fruits.. etc….

And then I did some work.. okay fine, I did a lot of work… but this caught my eye whilst the drama…. riot? protest? oh #detroit

And then I MAY OR MAY NOT have had a few drinks whilst getting FANCY for my special, highly anticipated dinner at Saltwater by my boyfriend, for the night.

Last look of the Isabella Wen necklace I LOOOOOOOOVE cuz I got drunk and broke it :[ WOMP.

Blurry picture of the restaurant.. it was a Tuesday night.. in a Casino.. hottest casino of Detroit.. and sadly bare :[

The host even gave me a magazine to read while I dined solo LOL...

Now before I begin I have to say.... I was highly.. intoxicated.. so much so in fact that I vow never to be this tipsy again... ok I was more than tipsy, when W cooks for me.. EVER.  His food is too good to waste on drunkeness.. altho I remember everything being FREAKING AMAZING so I couldn't have been that trashed ;] AND I took pictures SO HA!

Cold Calamari Salad

This was freaking amazing.  Delicious, fresh and UGH… perfectly cooked squid! I FUCKING LOVE SQUID. This was so amazing that I kept telling the servers and the GM to put it on the menu!

Sweet Pea Ravioli :]

I haven’t craved pasta like this in SO long. I actually had DREAMS about eating pasta and ravioli after eating these… tender, perfectly cooked.. mmmm and I have a huge things for peas…

Snapper with Mushroom & Sunchoke Consumme

Tender, the fish was perfectly flaked and melted in my mouth. AMAZING flavors!!!!

Roast Pork over Crispy potato and Rainbow Chard…. Apple Butter & Mustard Jus
See that bubbly? Not sure how many glasses I had but they kept filling it up. I love the pig.  Piggy piggy piggy, I could eat it for days, this was like butter in my mouth…. dissolving on my tongue in piggie deliciousness. Amazing greens.. perfectly wilted and then a nice crispy tater… MMMM…. It’s always a miracle when anyone can get me to eat potatoes. I’m SOOO picky about my potatoes… it’s usually only chips, fries and dirty mashed potatoes. HEE HEE… And potato skins..

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeesecake

LOVE.

Love of my life made a delicious meal that I loved.  Sorry I got too happy and drunk to remember full details.  BUT I LOVED IT.  I am a really really really blessed girl :]

Indian before a plane ride… Jyoti

We were originally gonna get pho but change of plans led us to…… INDIAN!!!!!!!! Indian always makes me oh so happy :] And this place did not disappoint! It was delicious and filled my tummy well.  I had slept in so we didn’t have much of the day left since I had a plane to catch and I knew I wouldn’t have dinner til probably 10 or 11 that night so Indian at 3 in the afternoon was perfect in filling me up and keeping me happy and full.  Jyoti it is.

Vegetable Samosas

Crispy pastry stuffed with potatoes and peas and deep-fried

Super tasty sauces…

This thing was HUUUUGE and PIPING HOT!  The filling was bursting of flavor and SO MUCH OF IT.  The crust was flakey and not too thin and not too thick, perfection.  It was SOOO GOOD, and I’m not a huge potato eater either, it was hot and burning my mouth but I just kept dipping it in the brown sauce and eating it. NOM

My Chicken Vindaloo

A hot and spicy chicken dish from the South, cooked with potatoes

I asked for it to be extra spicy but it wasn’t :[ The chicken was tender and the sauce was good tho.  It paired deliciously with my saffron rice....nom nom nom! AND the naan :]

W’s Chicken Tikka Makhanwala

Chicken cooked first in the Tandoor and finished in a tomato based gravy

And that iced tea that he got was FREAKING AMAZING.  It was light and FULL of cardamom flavor – YUMMM.. I love cardamom… it needs to be used more in food, it pairs so well with savory and sweet. NOM!

Garlic & Regular Naan

Don’t they look like pizza? HAHAHA… YUM — They were cooked SOOOO deliciously, a bit greasy in the middle, but SOOOOO GOOOD… I was eating the bubbles and crusts!!! You know me… and MMMMM GARLICKY!! I can’t ever stop myself from gorging on stinky foods like garlic and onions!!! TEEHEE…. We could barely finish any of it and even at the point of bursting I was still stuffing as much as I could down my throat. NOM!  No wonder we just went back to the apt and passed out from food coma…….. TEEHEE

We got to the airport early so we watched some planes take off and land…. so pretty

I stopped by the Sam Adams place in my terminal for a sip of Cherry Wheat… it was a bit too sweet for my liking but it smelled OH SO nice – I ended up just sniffing it the whole time….

No One Likes Me :[ HAHAHAHA jk

Unfortunately for me, and fortunate for everyone not around me, I had the whole first row to myself on the plane ride back home.  Remember: Belly full of Indian HAHAHA just kidding I don't get the "curry sh*ts" :]  But thanks Jetblue for my water and Terra Blue Chips again :D

Back in the Bean

Winner Winner -Peruvian- Chicken Dinner

Goofing off after a filling lunch - SOOO much moo in me hahahaha – and already getting ready for dinner….

Me eating gummy teeth that I bought W from Dylan’s Candy Bar.

B came over to chill again and after trying to choose roast or fried chicken… we decided on the closer the better… and we headed over to Granja de Oro Chicken a la Braza

We each got the Half Chicken plate.. Can you believe this is only 8 BUCKS?!?!?!?!!?

Delicious Peruvian Roasted Chicken. SOOOO juicy and derrriiiiicious.  The meat wasn’t dry at all and the skinnnn was so fatty and decadent.  TEEHEE…. Here’s a recipe I found online.  I don’t usually roast my own whole chickens… hahaha, except for that one time W did for our dinner party… but it might be fun to try :]

I was the odd ball our and got Yucca Fries instead of regular potato ones :D YUM!

After stuffing ourselves with MORE meat we headed over to Marvin for a drink and to enjoy the nice night.  A few drinks later we decided to head home for the night… hahaha at 10:30PM… this is how we roll on a Saturday night LOL… go home when all the people come out to play. HAHA….

STILL MISSING :[

Korean Brunch Plate

Still in recovery from Meat Overload the night before….

We tried waking up early to go to the Dupont Market to get pork for dinner tonight – I’m cooking – but we slept a little bit too in and hurried out the door, grabbed the pork and then walked over for Korean. Yep.  Back to Mandu for brunch. NOM

I was super curious last time to try their Korean Brunch plate, so that’s exactly what I got.  Actually, W and I both got it, I got the beef, and he got the pork – And obviously I got a tasty Soju Bloody Mary!

“[their] spin on steak & eggs– gimbap, korean omelet, chive pancakes,korean-style hash browns, and a choice of marinated beef, chicken, pork, or vegetables and tofu. served with a side of fruit”

Refreshing fruit bowl of grapes, cantalope, honeydew and strawberries on the side… everything was super savory and yummy. The beef was sooo goood.. as was the eggs and and.. okay, fine, EVERYTHING

Full and happy, we wandered back to the apt, did some grocery shopping and I prepped the pork for dinner :D WOO

Who wants a Gyro?

DC is becoming my second home… I’m starting to really love visiting there, plus the good company doesn’t hurt ;] … so why not spend another long weekend there?!

I got to the airport early but barely ate anything for breakfast so…. even tho it was before noon I got a blueberry beer at Boston Beer Works in the terminal.

I may have spent most of the time just staring at the blueberries go up and down the glass instead of drinking it, but it did make the half hour go by fast.. so was being on the phone the whole time :] TEEHEE.

I got seated in my comfy first row [WOOHOO JETBLUE BABY] and plugged… my earphones into my knee ;]

Terra Blue Chips and a Water later… and two episodes of New Girl, I was in DC!!!! AND HUNGRY… so I dropped off my luggage and we headed straight to get some gyros…. and other mediterranean food – LOVES.

There was a place right by W but there was an even better place just a few blocks away….

Astor Mediterranean

After ordering for us, W had phone calls, I patiently waited at the table and played Draw Something for awhile. HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY.

TAAAA-DAAAAA And note: I am an awesome girlfriend and remembered W loves Mexican Coke in a bottle :]

His Gyro Plate

Seasoned lamb with tzatsiki, feta, tomato, cucumber, red onion & cilantro served in a pita.

Really good and didn’t taste lamby AT ALL! NOM NOM!  Beautifully seasoned and YUM PITA

My Chicken Kabob Plate

A full skewer of chicken breast cubes with grilled mixed vegetables. Served with rice and Egyptian salad.

NOMS!!!! Both were delicious… and the pita… and yogurt sauce… I’m addicted to that stuff… MMMMMMM… The rice I wasn’t as much into, a bit too mushy for me, but I ate everything else :D SUPER STINKY GARLIC BREATH!!!  That green sauce was spicy and delicious!!!! Also the villain that gave me super stinky garlic breath :]

ANNNNNND when we got back… TAAA-DAAAAA

I am officially the best girlfriend in the world – according to ME! Case of Sriracha

<3
