It’s good to be back….

Tiffie’s 21st Birthday in Vegas… AGAIN

Woke up super early Thursday [the 23rd] morning to head over to the airport.  A quick reminder from my Godfather before I headed off…

Which is funny cuz when I got to Vegas my mom texted me to bring BACK a husband HA!!!!….

I got to Logan Airport WAY too early, just like last year, so I sat at Boston Beer Works for some breakfast.  Apparently they don’t serve alcohol til 8am so the waitress MADE my Bloody Mary, with Grey Goose!!!, placed it a few feet away from me, and waited til 8 to give it to me. TEASE.  Thankfully she gave in and gave it to me a few minutes before

It could’ve been bigger and spicier but it was tasty.  I almost got another one but then the guys next to me, obviously headed to Vegas for a bachelor party, were downing absolut vodka which made me wanna gag so I decided to just drink on the plane instead.

Vegetarian Omelette with Wheat Toast, Potatoes and a side of Bacon

The omelette was filled with peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, the works.. and two kinds of cheese.. I think it was a mozzarella and cheddar. YUM – it was ridic cuz two guys next to me were eating SUPER healthy. NO cheese egg white omelettes.. no meats no thing. LAME. I wanted more bacon but the service was SO slow I could barely down this plate in 10 minutes before I rushed off to my gate.  Got some snacks, candy and a few magazines, and I was off. WOOHOO.

HIS ASS BRUSHED UP AGAINST MY HAND! He was flirting with one of the attendants in the front the whole time. I tried to give him googlyy eyes hahaha.. SO MUCH HOTTER IN PERSON!!! I love his raspy voice :] Short though.  But he actually got on the plane in a hat and sunglasses and yet I still recognized him. Oh those Affleck boys sure are dreamy… in that rough manly Boston sort of way.

A few drinks and some snacks on the plane later. I tried to sleep.. but ended up watching random tv shows, caught up on Hell’s Kitchen and watched Lorax… I was in Vegas. WHAT WHAT!!!  Kelly’s flight was delayed so I ended up going to Caesar’s Palace first.  The cab totally took a super long way and overcharged me – BITCH – but I was there YAY.  The guy at the front was nice enough to upgrade our room to a bigger one with a living area – with couch, and a hot tub for just 50$ more a night. WOOT!  So not only did we get an awesome deal for a little over 100$ a night from Jetsetter, we got a great upgrade YAY…

Fucking SEAN gave us the FARTHEST room POSSIBLE.  I knew, just walking there, that we were gonna have some problems getting back at night.

Our view!!! See the orange umbrellas?!  That’s Venus Pool Club… we got invited to a few, one was topless but it was MEH, plus you can hear the music from our FREAKING ROOM so no need to go in and see a few gross boobs.

I ordered some food, a delicious Asian Chicken Salad.. and bubbly while waiting for Kelly.. but they FUCKED IT UP.  Stupid service said there was NO house champagne so they gave me something else bubbly but they charged me 20$ more and gave me white wine. FLAT. So HUUUUGE WHOLE commotion and trouble later, managers involved, etc etc I finally got our bubbly.  Right when Kelly got here.

 
The salad was tasty but with some faults. Water chestnuts, cabbage, carrots, sliced green beans.. sightly dry but still quite tasty grilled chicken and but gross out of the can mushrooms yick.  The sesame dressing was really goo thought, yum.

We got  few more drinks and bubbly… after shopping all day, I bought some jewelry, Hello Kitty stuff and slutty dresses… and the we ordered a margarita.

And then started getting ready…

And then headed to dinner. Freaking place was 20 minutes walking from our room.  And it was IN Caesars, BLAH! So far.

Sushi Roku was like Hipster sushi which sucked.

Afterwards we went to TAO Nightclub in Venetian.  It was a long night of blah and even blah-er guys.  But at least I got a nice long sleep and lots of good drinkage. MMMM sake, bubbles and free drinks at the club. WOOT.  Feet hurt like a bitch tho.

TIME FOR THE POOL!  Brought a little bit of Detroit with me to Vegas.  [this is for you W]

Kelly hates me.  And I have no boobs.  I ended up waiting at the cocktail line and the food line most of the day. WORST SERVICE EVER.

The pool was nice though, no hot guys or girls tho. SAD.

Shrimp Papaya Salad & Nachos

Salad was disgusting.  The shrimp was half raw and so fishy.. the papaya was ONE slice and it wasn’t even close to being half ripe. It was hard and bland.  There was mango and pineapple in it too. Just BLAH.  The NACHOS were really good tho – beef, jalapenos, sour cream, salsa, etc etc…- needed more cheese.  HAHA, I ate all of Kelly’s Nachos.

Frozen Pink Lemonade. SOOO GOOD… tons of Vodka!!! I got Kelly a Strawberry Margarita, with muddled fresh strawberries, BOTH AMAZING!

Kelly went back first to nap.  When I went back I went straight to the hot tub. AHHH, living the life.

And then I was hungry again so I ordered room service again.  Another bottle of champagne… and

It was SO good, but mostly noodles, with chicken.. some carrots and celery and a splash of soup haha…

And also got some Veggies with Hummus and Ranch dip.

The veggies were fresh and delicious.  They also gave us more bread YAY.. hummus was really bland and too chunky and not creamy enough for me.

And then we napped and got ready and then freaked out for a few hours about where to eat.  I had W helping as well with the hotel concierge who DOUBLE booked the restaurant and we had to cancel like 3 different places.. but hey it’s…… see-thru dress time!!!

We ended up heading over to Scarpetta at the Cosmopolitan to meet up with my old co-worker/Manager George.  Where I had one of the best Polentas of my life.   Read more about it here.

After we headed over to XS where I got to see B but also waited like over 2 hours in a million lines….. LAME.

WOKE UP STARVED.  I wanted breakfast, so I made Kelly wake up and eat with me.  She got a BLT and I got grapefruit segments…

1. They forgot my Tabasco and 2. They forgot Kelly’s fries.

LAME. They also tried to force me to get a Fruit Plate. NO!!!!!!!… grrr… But we did get Bloody Marys and Bellinis :D AND they gave me more Bacon than my frittata.. and the potatoes were shit.  Soggy, flimsy and gross. BLAH.  SO I ate Kelly’s fries.. which came with my tabasco sauce like 40 minutes later.. but they were hot and fresh and crispy. OK, I have faith again in their fries.

BTW, everytime we’ve gotten room service they give us a million straws and we never used them. THE ONE TIME I NEEDED A STRAW for my Bloody Mary, there was none, so I went to the straw that’s been on our floor for the past few days… hahahha

And we woke up to this in the middle of our bathroom floor. WTF?!

The next day we woke up, and while I wasn’t hungover the whole time there, it was pretty bad anways… I wanted a BURGER.

Fruit Plate. AWESOME. Fig, Rambutan. Grapes, Berries. Kiwi. Papaya. Peach. Mango, Dragonfruit, Watermelon, Cherries, etc etc…. 
BUT REALLY?!.. only ONE rambutan adn HALF a fig?!.. LAME. But at least thumbs up to the exotic fruits.

[btw I MUST say the menu is pretty cool and offers a lot of food.  Also a HUGE Asian menu!  Including CONGEE!!!]

Kelly got the Southwestern Chicken Wrap – which sucked. Dry and nothing like the description.  So I gave her some of my chili from my burger.

And then I headed to the pool and came back the tannest I’ve been in a long long time.  YES, this is super super SUPER tan for me.

Napped.  And then got ready for our last big dinner in Vegas.

We met up for drinks at Aria and then dinner at Sirio from one of my college friends Min :]  He’s a sommelier so obviously we had amazing wines.

After a million glasses and different drinks. I came back to the room wanting more food and champagne.  I ordered Hunger Games and promptly passed out.

I woke up so comfy tho… and with an indent on my face.  I was called Scarface for the rest of the day.

And then we got Donuts for Breakfast at Central.

We had already packed so we came back to nap and re-watch Hunger Games.  Haha, good thing I got them to give us 1pm checkout.

Turning “21″ in Vegas….

So Vegas, where do I begin?! This trip started off a few months ago as a trip to Montreal to see a Backstreet Boys concert… which turned into, we should go, just girls, for a weekend…

And then it turned into I NEED A GIRLS WEEKEND OUT!!!!!!!

Now I ALWAYS have huge parties… month long filled activities and a weekend of fun… too many dinners and usually involves me being in New York City…. there’s always too much drinking, too much drama and with the amount of money spent on throwing my lavish parties… might as well just GO SOMEWHERE… so for my birthday I asked for only one thing from my parents, get me a room in Vegas so I can go with my best girlfriends. :]

Oh. We went from Montreal to Vegas cuz Katy doesn’t have her passport hehehe…

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. I’ve been wanting to celebrate a birthday in Vegas SINCE I was about to turn 21, but it’s always hard trying to get everyone together to go.. so this time I made my decision, booked the room and told people to come – okay admit, it was kinda last minute and in inconvenient times for most of my gfs, but the two that mattered a lot were going with me :] And that made me super happy!

SOOOOOO after counting down for FOREVER.. Vegas finally came!!!!

T drove me to Katy’s in the afternoon and we set off to run some errands.. bought some shoes [yes, we bought shoes, you'll see a pic of them later on ... ], went to her work place to pick up her check, went to the ATM AND…. made it back in time for the cabby to come pick us up. crazzzzy bastard [hahahaha in a crazy funny way]

Me and Katy in the crazy ride to the airport….. she literally got an anxiety attack cuz our driver kept looking back at us to talk to us about his “slutty” adventures – trust me NO WAY he gets all these girls, he was gross – but we both thought he was gonna crash – FREAKY

We got there SUPER early, got thru security before the rush and immediately got some food and got a-drinking :D
Some Wolfgang Puck cafe/lounge where we got this colorful Asian Chicken Salad.. it was SO pretty on the menu [the picture] and colorful, we were SO drawn to it… so it was like an asian slaw with wonton strips.. a little bit too heavy on the dressing and it was sweet but it was pretty good…

Katy got a gin and tonic and I got a nice glass of wine.. VINO.. my drug of choice :] Always.. hehe

After our drinks we decided to move to the Boston Beer Works for some more drinks [another Gin+Tonic for Katy and a Vodka+Tonic for me]

And then it was time to go.. but OH WAIT, they switched gates on us while we were getting drunkies – we ended up running, literally, RUNNING to the other side of the terminal to our gate.. it was literally on the OTHER FREAKING SIDE…

And we ended up getting sat across the aisle from each other.. which was funny since we kept talking over the aisle…. Katy also watched the tv on my side more which was funny.. OMG, the couple next to her drank SO much beer, I felt trashed FOR them.. they went to the bathroom every 2 seconds and would come back with MORE beers… it was just peeing and boozing and they WREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKED of beer.. gross. So not cool… The guy behind me was gross and stuck his bare feet WAY too close to me… his daughter was annoying and totally pooped her pants – smelled like farts a lot – and blasted his ipod on speaker to calm his daughter down. He looked like a caveman so I forgive him, not really.

Booze drinks for me… napped a bit but mainly watched Guy Fieri on Food Network and random movies on TV.. TEEHEE… 5 hrs later we were there.

Taiwan – Dec 22 – Taipei 101 & Late Nite Hotpot

I LOVE GETTING MY HAIR WASHED IN TAIWAN!!! 

I think it’s cuz they take the time to masssssage your head and REALLY get in there I don’t have to wash my hair everyday and it’s super clean and fresh!! I also got in a habit of getting my hair curled!!!

Oyster Pancake/Omelette (蚵仔煎)

The dish consists of an omelette with a filling primarily composed of small oysters. Starch is mixed into the egg batter, giving the resulting egg wrap a thicker consistency. Depending on regional variation, a savory sauce may then be poured on top of the omelette for added taste.

I LOOOVE this stuff but only from Taiwan :] It’s a Taiwanese dish, goopy & delicious!!!

I bought a ton of preserved fruits from here :] They’re coming in the 3 HUUUGE boxes I mailed back from Taiwan!!!

The food court was amazing and had everything from all types of Chinese (HK, Shanghai, Taiwan, etc.. -style) to Japanese Hotpots, Korean BBQs, Indian, Singapore, French, “American”, Italian, etc.. etc… I had to walk around 3x to finally settle on my food (all bought from different vendors!!!)

What I love about tea time in Taiwan is that it’s EVERYWHERE. Unless it’s a dessert-based cafe tho, most tea time places offer just combos that are cheaper. The chestnut on top was liquor soaked, oh my oh my!!! This thing was insanely good and the thing about Taiwan desserts is that it’s not disgustingly sweet. I duno how I’m even gonna enjoy Japanese desserts anymore :[

When a Sogo closes, all the employees line up by the escalators (9 floors and I think it was 3 basements) and they bow and say thanks for coming. I was giggling.

I ended the night with a late night all-you-can-eat mala Hotpot (麻辣火锅) The places closes i think at 3am :D

Bad Service, Top Chef Talk and lottttttsa chocolate

First off…  anyone else watching Top Chef, Season 5 — Is it me or is this season seeming kinda…. lacking in talent?! I know it’s only been 2 episodes but there are so many…. sucky people on it @_@ Esp. the last episode I was SO disappointed in what they presented as food. I wish they cut Ariane instead of Patrick in the first episode. She just SUCKS. She should’ve left this week too… I mean seriously.. at least I’m glad Jill left.. now to get rid of Ariane, Josea… Gene… blah. I don’t like them really. I’m rooting for the Europeans :] Fabio’s awesome. Carla & Radhika seem cool too :] ANNND.. Jeff looks like Jesse Spencer from House :D HAHAHA… But the Europeans are the only ones that really stand out from the bunch… but then it IS only the beginning.. I reallllly hope this season doesn’t disappoint!!! 

I’m OBSESSED with Top Chef so expect rantings and ravings for the weeks to come :] OH and anyone else “surprised” that McKey won ANTM? *rolls eyes* it was expected.. altho when it came down to the final three I really like Analeigh :] SO CUTE. McKey’s win was sooo predictable from the beginning, she’s very fashion model-esque.. so *shrug* I really wanted Sheena to win *go asians* but alas :[ I also thought it was the worst final 3 ever!!! Samantha? She took nice pictures but in person she was too goofy and on the runway, no offense, she seemed too shlumpy. Eh. Maybe next season we'll have more hot asians :] … OH and anyone else thought that Isis would’ve gone further? I expected Marjorie to win over Samantha @_@ UUBER LAME. OK OK, enough complaining and onto foods…

Last nite I was STARVING so I ate 5 dates before bed…

USUALLY I’m SOOOOOOO impressed with this place but I was SORELY disappointed today.. not cuz of the food (cuz it was amazing as always, altho a LOT smaller than I remember) but the service was HORRIBLE. Our waiter came by three times total and then TOTALLY forgot about us after giving us our food.

It was good but the dinkiest “clam bake” EVER!!!! The “corn and potatoes” were just some small kernals and halves on the bottom of this. 3 mussels and like 3 clams?!?!? DOOD, its like a pre-snack snack for a fatty like me. @_@

BUT like I said, service sucked.. so we skipped dessert. (I was gonna get the fig tart & sweet potato creme brulee too!!) The MANAGER offered complimentary dessert but I was pissed. We waited for SUCH a long time and got nothing (seriously it took us like half an hour of trying to wave ANYONE down just to get more hot water and a dessert menu.. and then another 20 minutes or so just to get ANYONES attention.. I was fed up and didn’t wanna be there anymore.. and refused dessert) so she ONLY took off the TEA on the bill and gave us a mopey apologetic pout. WTFREAK!!!! LAME. So not going back again.

If you go and you get the fat guy waiter with the accent, beware being ignored the WHOLE time.

So being full was epic fail.. I should’ve picked The Palm instead and gotten an iron-loaded steak.

I had half a pomelo and some chocolate covered orange slices, peaches and apricots (SOOO GOOD!!!! A NEW FAV) while watching An American Crime @_@ So disturbing, but this one was scarier and more graphic.

FIRST of all, Happy Birthday Kath!!!!
Everyone NEEDS to go say happy birthday to her and check out the AMAZING cake her awesome hubby made for her :D  *jealous* No guy has ever baked me a cake… lolol..

HINT HINT: I like it when guys cook!!! Hahaha… the most fanciful & untypical thing a guy has ever made me was paella… but I usually end up doing all the cooking LOL… I only had one boyfriend who enjoyed cooking almost as much as I did tho, so I think we influenced each other a lot in that sense while we were together.

OK, onwards…

Sidenote: Today’s sunny with high of 68 degrees :D ECSTATIC!!!

I woke up feeling really sick yesterday morning…. so I had some water & vitamins, my chia seeds and was out the door…

Trader Joe’s had human bingo yesterday while I was shopping and I got THREE things!!!! Some chocolate decadance cereal, apple/grape juice & a tub of chocolate covered almonds :D Yay for free!!! It was fun too… you’re supposed to scream BINGO when they call your number and I was the only one who actually screamed it (aside from the 5 year old who also won once) … >_<; I’m a dork!!!

I got some dried pomelo at TJ’s so I had three pieces, they’re bitter and yummy!!!

There was no skin on it tho… dried fruit skin is the best!!! I still prefer the Russo’s kind that’s just dried skin with a tiny piece of meat, these are less sweet tho…!!!

Some other more interesting things I bought…

& then at Whole Foods I was deciding on Arrowhead Mills’ 4 Grain or 7 Grain Hot Cereal to try.. I decided that I’d go for simple first :] Plus the 4 Grain looked thicker and chewier on the box :] Haha… but this one has flax in it, I’m hesitant since the last time I tried flax I seemed allergic but this was too tempting not to buy :D

I made a quick trip to B&N to look for some books and to get my coffee fix and then ended up being STARVED whilst browsing. Feeling faint, I was SO happy I remembered to pack a cup of GoLean in my bag :D

I added a new kind of squash to try this wk :D It says it’s chestnutty, so I’m excited!!! I’ll probably try it tonite!!!

I decided to try a mixture of flavors I saw in a cooking mag once… I got STARVING suddenly right when I was preparing dinner so I had the last 2 tiny mini Honeycrisps to prevent munching on dinner before I finished!!! :]

Leeks… (I was ecstatic when I found these, usually I prefer buying them fresh and trimming them my own, but I’m sick so screw you :P)
 

I added some toasted walnuts and mushrooms on top :D

Secret ingredients: I placed a slice of pancetta underneath each chicken thigh AND had red currant jelly in it :D

I figured I needed a veggie sidedish so… simple & quick:
Curried Orange Cauliflower… I bought a tiny orange thing… added curry and some other spices to it and chopped up some dried cherries… spicy and sweet!!!
 

Since I still felt crummy I whipped up a huge bowl of pumpkin oatmeal w/ wheatberries & a whopping a tbs of lowfat coconut flakes :D Only 35 cal a tbs :D It wasn’t overly pumpkiny.. I guess I need more than 1/2c of pumpkin to 1/2 of oats?!?!..

The coconut lasted me til the very end!!!

I decided to go old school last nite and watch Halloween (can you believe I’ve watched them all except for this one???? The OG???? I even saw the remake last year but not this one…. oy)

Even Dior’s ready for movie time (and I bet she was daydreaming about ‘Apple Time’ here too..)

I ended up eating 1.5 persimmons (sooo yum)

A HUUUUGE glass of wine (so I didn’t have to get up to pour more)

(I ended up filling it almost to the top haha but it looks prettier & classier partway filled)

& a tub of sour worms from WF… I didn’t mean to but they were so chewy :]

At least they’re a bit “healthier” cuz they’re made from fruit juices?!?!.. hahaha…

Some books/mags I bought today, thought it was funny cuz it was so random:

I guess all that food, worms and wine caught up with me cuz while I’m still feeling crummy I’m also feeling stuffed. I had a weird nite (but better than previous) I think the wine helped me sleep a little better actually. WEIIIIIIIRD dreams tho about me living in a super strict boarding school and such. @_@ The new head that came in was super strict (as opposed the previous lax one who just let us turn it into a party school) … and the new head didn’t like me and locked me in the gym with no electricity and my boyfriend w/ the help of our friends (in my dream) was trying to sneak me out.

I also had another WEIRD dream also about me trying to run away from this psycho guy… strange.

Is my dreams trying to tell me something about me needing to get away?!?!.. hahaha…

So I was gonna wake up early to make brunch for everyone.. but now… I duno. I wanted to make french toast, eggs, bacon, the works.. but now.. maybe something simple.. Just one thing.. hahahah… or oatmeal for all :D 

1o*1o Daily Munch

I was up til 3am doing some extra work so I could take off early today :]

Of course this was a distraction…

I went to bed starving and with stomachache :[ That's what you get when you keep on eating when you're not hungry. Something's been irritating my stomach a lot lately and I'm scared it's all the yogurt I'm eating. Maybe I have to up my lactaid before each yogurt cup.  As much as I was looking forward to eating a Chobani, I might wait to have it for a snack/dessert tonite :] I’m feeling a bit better now tho. I think it might be peaches… I refuse to believe it’s my beloved yogurt haha..

In case you guys were curious about my morning pre-food routine.

Vitamins.

And I drink them down with my herbal drink. It’s a jujube and other chinese herbs mixture like things such as goji and stuff that’s SUPER healthy and refreshing. I’ve been drinking it EVERY morning since forever :]

& since I’m skipping my morning yogurt… When I don’t have something creamy for breakfast, I just eat my chia seeds as is. Usually in a tiny bowl and I just lick it out. it’s weird to see… but they’re really really good.

It’s sooo nice out today!!!!

All I wanted today was an apple. A crispy, juicy, cold apple. So I tried Honeycrisp that I’ve been hearing so much about. Delicious. I actually BAKED/cooked with one already but I haven’t eaten one yet. Strange, huh? I bought about 10, mostly big HUGE ones but a few tiny bitesize ones cuz I thought they were cute :]

TOO FUN! I’m gonna have issues wanting to weigh everything now just for the fun of it :]

Dior heard me cutting up my apple and did her little cute puppy dog eyes and whined for some too. SHE LOVESSSS APPLES!! She eats apples EVERY NIGHT for dessert!!!

Like mother, like daughter.

When she’s done with her bowl I always have to tell her “No more!!!” and let her sniff, lick and investigate to make sure I’m not lying to her :] She’ll sniff, lick and then be satisfied and walk away HEE HEE…

I love cutting my fruits up into small bites, takes so much longer to eat, it took me over 30 min to eat. Granted, I was working and busy running around, but still :]
